ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Imidazolyl thieno-benzothiepin derivatives of the general formule I Image (I) in which R is a hydrogen or a chlorine atome, and its acid addition salts with pharmaceutically acceptable inorganic and organic acids, show in experiments in vitro and in vivo, remarkable antimycotic properties and therefore allow to expect a potential for use in human and veterinary therapy for the treatment of dermal and vaginal mycoses. These derivatives can be prepared by reacting 4,9-dihydro- thieno/2,3-c/-2-benzothiepin-4-ol or its 6-chloro derivative with imidazole or a reactive derivative thereof, e.g. 1,1'-carbonyldiimidazole or 1,1'-thionyldiimidazole, or by converting the respective thieno-benzothiepin-4-ol compound first into its alkane- or arenesulfonate ester and subse- quently reacting it with imidazole.
