ABSTRACT Disclosed is a single-stage method of producing water- absorbing polysaccharide graft polymers from polysaccharides and unsaturated water-soluble carboxyl group-containing monomers. Fine particulate graft polymers with very high water absorption capacity can be prepared by employing nonionic lipophilic surface active agents and nonionic hydrophilic surface active agents.
