2091755 9205675 PCTABS00011 An immersion heater comprises a heating element (405) having a return portion (404) around which is wrapped a thermally conductive link (401). The link extends through a plastics head (408) and seal member (407), by which the element is mounted in an opening in a wall of a heating chamber, and has a first portion (402) bent down to co-operate with a bimetallic actuator of a thermally responsive control, which operates in the event that the element (404) overheats. A second portion (403) of the link is bent upwardly, its upper end (410) co-operating with a thermally deformable member of the control which in the event that the actuator fails to operate will deform so as to disconnect the power supply to the element.
