IMMUNOASSAY FOR DETECTION OF RAS ENCODED PROTEIN Abstract of the Disclosure This invention provides a method for diagnosing in a subject a neoplastic condition associated with the presence of an activated oncogene which comprises de- tecting in a sample of a biological fluid from the subject the presence of a polypeptide encoded by the activated oncogene. A method for diagnosing the presence of a condition in a subject is disclosed which comprises quantitatively determining the amount of an oncogene-encoded polypeptide in a sample from the subject and comparing the amount so determined with the amount determined in a sample from a normal subject. Further, a method for monitoring the course of a neo- plastic condition in a subject is disclosed which com- prises quantitatively determining in a first sample of a biological fluid from the subject the presence of an oncogene-encoded polypeptide and comparing the amount so determined with the amount present in a second sam- ple from the subject, such samples being taken at dif- ferent points in time. Finally, methods for typing tumors and a method for screening putative therapeutic agents are disclosed.
