The present invention relates to an immunochemical method for qualitatively or quantitatively detecting an analyte in which first and second binding partners are brought into contact with the analyte and the binding of the binding partners to the analyte is detected using known methods. According to the invention, both the binding partners are prepared recombinantly in the same host using different vectors (V1 and V2) for expressing fusion proteins, with the first binding partner being expressed as fusion protein Fl in vector V1 and the second binding partner being expressed as fusion protein F2 in vector V2. The advantage of the novel method, which can also be employed for simultaneously determining several analytes, lies in the fact that its sensitivity and specificity are superior to those of known methods.
