Peptide constructs chemically synthesized to contain a Herpes Simplex Virus specific antigenic peptide, such as, the 322-332 peptide (H1) from the ICP27 protein of Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV-1) and a peptide from a T cell binding ligand (TCBL), such as .beta.-2M (aa 35-50), which elicits a TH1-like response in vitro tests in mice, were protective against challenge with HSV.

L'invention concerne des structures peptidiques obtenues par voie de synthèse chimique et contenant un peptide antigénique spécifique du virus Herpes simplex, par exemple, le peptide 322-332 (H1) provenant de la protéine ICP27 du virus Herpes simplex (HSV1) et un peptide provenant d'un ligand de liaison des cellules T (TCBL) tel que .beta.-2M (aa 35-50), qui déclenche une réponse du type de TH1 lors des tests in vitro, chez la souris. On a découvert que les peptides de la présente invention ont une fonction protectrice lors d'un test de provocation au HSV.
