ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Immunologically active compounds of the formula: Image (I.) I II III wherein: R1 is C1-7 alkyl; substituted C1-7 alkyl; phenyl; or substituted phenyl; R2 18 hydrogen; C1-7 alkyl; substituted C1-7 alkyl; phenyl; substituted phenyl; phenyl C1-4 alkyl; or substituted phenyl C1-4 alkyl; R3 and R4 may be the same or different and are each in- dependently hydrogen, provided that R3 and R4 may not both be hydrogen; or Image where X is -O-; -S-; or Image ; or Image ; R10 is hydrogen; C1-30 alkyl; C2-30 alkenyl; C1-30 alkoxy; phenyl; C1-20 alkylsulfonyl; or chole- steryl; R11, R12, R13, R14, and R15 may be the same or dif- ferent and are each independently hydrogen; C1-20 alkyl; C1-20 alkylcarbonyloxy; amino; benzyl; C1-20 alkoxymethyl; C1-20alkylamido; or Image I II III r is 0 or 1; s is 0 or 1; and t is 0 to 20; pro- vided that s may only be 0 when both r and t are greater than 0 or when r is 0 and R10 is amino; phenyl; substituted phenyl; 1-adamantyl; or hetero- cycle selected from the group consisting of 2- or 3- furyl, 2- or 3- thienyl, 2- or 3- pyrrolidinyl, 2-, 3- or 4- pyridyl, and 1-tetrazolyl, said heterocycle optionally substituted with C1-20 alkylcarbonyl; and where R3 or R4 is other than hydrogen, the other of R3 or R4 may additionally be C1-4 alkylcarbonyl; R5 is hydrogen or C1-10 alkyl; R6 is hydrogen or R6 and R7 taken together are -(CH2)3-; R7 is hydrogen; C1-7 alkyls hydroxymethyl; mercaptomethyl; benzyl; or substituted benzyl; R8 and R9 may be the same or different and are each in- dependently COOR, or CONR'R", where R is hydrogen or C1-7 alkyl, and R' and R" are hydrogen or C1-3 alkyl; when R5 is C1-10 alkyl, the stereochemistry at asymmetric center I is ? or ?; when R7 is other than hydrogen, the stereochemistry at asymmetric center II is ?; and the stereochemistry at asymmetric center III is ?; and acid addition and quaternary salts thereof.
