The present invention relates to the use of immunomodifying agents to effect change in the T helper-type 1 (TH1) or T helper-type 2 (TH2) arms of the immune response and thereby treat TH1 or TH2 mediated diseases. In particular, the present invention relates to a method of altering a specific immune response in an individual comprising: i). administering to an individual in need thereof an effective amount of an antigen in immunotherapeutic form, wherein said immune response is down regulated; and ii). subsequently administering to the individual an effective amount of an immunomodifying agent comprising said antigen in immunogenic form.

Cette invention se rapporte à l'utilisation d'agents immunomodificateurs destinés à provoquer des changements dans les branches des lymphocytes T auxiliaires de type 1 (TH1) ou des lymphocytes T auxiliaires de type 2 (TH2) de la réponse immunitaire et pour traiter ainsi les maladies médiées par les lymphocytes TH1 ou TH2. Cette invention concerne en particulier un procédé servant à modifier une réponse immunitaire spécifique chez un individu et consistant à cet effet: (i) à administrer à un individu nécessitant un tel traitement une quantité efficace d'un antigène sous forme immunothérapeutique, grâce auquel la réponse immunitaire est abaissée; et (ii) à administrer ensuite à cet individu une quantité efficace d'un agent immunomodificateur comprenant cet antigène sous forme immunogène.
