ABSTRACT A hockey stick is made to be impact resistant by applying a tubular braided sleeve of reinforcing material over the blade extending from the toe to a point on the elongated handle adjacent the heel of the blade. The tubular braided sleeve is placed in tension to reduce its diameter and cause it to embrace, surround and conform closely into the contours of the hockey stick. The tubular braided sleeve is then impregnated with a resin, cured and the ends ground to remove excess material at the toe and on the handle of the hockey stick.
