-23- ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An impact resistance modifier for polycarbonate, which is a copolymer, comprising an elastomer and a methyl methacrylate copolymer, which are bonded covalently. The methyl methacrylate copolymer is one that is compatible by itself with polycarbonate resin due to specific comonomers. Such comonomers are aromatic (meth)acrylic esters and (meth)acrylamides, cycloalkyl(meth)acrylamides and cycloalkylmaleimides. Thermoplastic molding compounds comprising polycarbonate and the new impact resistance modifier exhibit excellent impact resistance. 80/rac
