A method for increasing output pressure of a blower unit in a Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) device, the blower unit having a blower rotatable about an axis of rotation. The method includes the steps of ingesting air into the blower unit, successively accelerating the ingested air in a direction substantially radial to the axis of rotation and a direction substantially parallel to the axis of rotation for generating a flow of compressed air; and exhausting the accelerated air from the blower unit. A PAP device with the improved blower generates increased air pressure compared to prior art devices or produces at least the same air pressure at a reduced size.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour augmenter une pression de sortie d'une unité de soufflante dans un dispositif de Pression Positive Expiratoire (PAP), l'unité de soufflante ayant une soufflante capable de tourner autour d'un axe de rotation. Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant à ingérer de l'air dans l'unité de soufflante, accélérer successivement l'air ingéré dans une direction sensiblement radiale par rapport à l'axe de rotation et une direction sensiblement parallèle à l'axe de rotation pour générer un courant d'air comprimé ; et faire sortir l'air accéléré de l'unité de soufflante. Un dispositif de PAP avec la soufflante perfectionnée génère une pression d'air accrue par comparaison avec les dispositifs de l'état antérieur de la technique ou produit au moins la même pression d'air à une dimension réduite.
