In this method for cementing an implant into bone by means of an autopolymerising two-component bone cement the implant, in particular the stem of a hip prosthesis is preheated above room temperature prior to its cementing into bone, preferably to at least 43° C. By this method the stem-cement interface is warmer than the bone-cement interface and consequently a stiff cement shell will form first around the stem and the cement will shrink towards the stem and away from the bone. The resulting reduction of porosity at the stem-cement interface improves significantly the fatigue life of the system.

Dans ce procédé de cimentation d'un implant dans un os au moyen de ciment à os à autopolymérisation en deux constituants, l'implant, en particulier la tige d'une prothèse de hanche est préchauffé à une température supérieure à la température ambiante avant d'être cimenté dans l'os, de préférence à au moins 43 DEG C. Par ce procédé, l'interface tige-ciment est plus chaude que l'interface os-ciment et, par conséquent, une coquille de ciment rigide se forme d'abord autour de la tige et le ciment rétrécit vers la tige en s'écartant de l'os. La réduction de porosité obtenue au niveau de l'interface tige-ciment améliore considérablement la résistance à la fatigue du système.
