IMPLANTABLE DEVICES HAVING HYDROPHOBIC COMPONENT ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Implantable devices are described, wherein the devices are composed of at least one base polymer component and at least one hydrophobic polymer component with a hydrophobicity that is equal to or greater than that of lactide. These devices are suitable for implantation into a living organism where they demonstrate desirable mechanical and physiological properties. Such properties result in an unexpectedly beneficial effect on cell growth and regeneration of function.
