A method for cooking chips which are impregnated, in a vessel (3), with liquid in first and second concurrent impregnation zones (A, B), impregnation liquid being supplied, in a mixture with steamed chips, through a feeding system to the first impregnation zone, and liquid for recovery being extracted at a first point (41) at the end of the first impregnation zone, and further liquid being supplied to the second impregnation zone (B). According to the invention liquid is extracted at a second point (43) at the start of the second impregnation zone (B) and is circulated in an impregnation circulation (44 45) which empties out at the center of the vessel at a point between said first and second points (41, 43) for extraction of liquid so that a flow of liquid is established from the center of the vessel in a radial direction. Said further liquid is supplied to the impregnation circulation for continued impregnation of the chips in the second impregnation zone.

Un procédé permet de cuire dans une cuve (3) des copeaux qui sont imprégnés avec un liquide, dans une première et une deuxième zones d'imprégnation concourant (A, B), le liquide d'imprégnation étant amené, mélangé avec des copeaux traités à la vapeur, par un système d'alimentation vers la première zone d'imprégnation, le liquide à récupérer étant extrait en un premier point (41) situé à l'extrémité de cette première zone d'imprégnation, et un surcroît de liquide étant amené à la deuxième zone d'imprégnation (B). D'après ce procédé, le liquide est extrait en un deuxième point (43) situé au début de cette deuxième zone d'imprégnation (B) et il circule dans un circuit d'imprégnation (44, 45) qui se déverse au centre de la cuve, entre les deux points (41, 43) d'extraction de liquide, de façon qu'un flux radial de liquide s'établisse depuis le centre de cette cuve. Le surcroît de liquide alimente ce circuit d'imprégnation pour continuer à imprégner les copeaux dans la deuxième zone d'imprégnation.
