An aqueous functional fluid composition free of formaldehyde and formaldehyde producing agents, more especially an aqueous metalworking fluid composition, having improved resistance to attack by micro-organisms is provided. This fluid comprises: a) water; b) a water soluble or dispersible functioning agent (e.g. water soluble or dispersible organic lubricant) and c) an antimicrobial effective amount of the combination of d) a water soluble or dispersible nitrogen bearing organic compound (e.g. monoethanolamine) and e) a water soluble or dispersible haloalkynylalkyl carbamate (e.g. 1-iodo-3-propynylbutyl carbamate).

L'invention concerne une composition de fluide fonctionnel aqueux, exempt de formaldéhyde et d'agents produisant du formaldéhyde, plus spécialement une composition de fluide aqueux utilisé pour l'usinage des métaux, présentant une résistance améliorée aux attaques par micro-organismes. Un tel fluide comprend: a) de l'eau; b) un agent fonctionnel soluble ou dispersible dans l'eau (par exemple un lubrifiant organique dispersible ou soluble dans l'eau); et c) une quantité efficace pour lutter contre les microbes d'un mélange de d) un composé organique comportant de l'azote, soluble ou dispersible dans l'eau (par exemple de la mono-éthalodamine) et e) un carbamate de haloalkynylalkyle dispersible soluble dans l'eau (par exemple du carbamate de 1-iodo-3-propynylbutyle).
