The invention relates to a new type of axial unilateral external splint device for stabilizing bone fractures, comprising an extendible rod- like middle body (2) and oppositely located bone screw clamps (5, 6) which are articulated to respective ends (3, 4) of the rod-like middle body (2) by means of ball joints. Advantageously, a ball-and-socket joint (16) is mounted to each clamp (5, 6), within a main body (20) with which a bone screw clamping ar- rangement (25, 26, 21, 22, 23) is associated or co-operates. Also provided are ancillary members (30) adapted for removable association with the end of each clamp (5, 6) to allow each clamp to be more suitable for use, depending on the different operative installation conditions of the fixator.

L'invention porte sur un nouveau type de gouttière externe unilatérale axiale permettant de stabiliser les fractures des os et comprenant un corps central (2) extensible de type tige et des griffes à vis de serrage (5, 6) des os opposées qui sont articulées par rapport aux extrémités respectives (3, 4) du corps central (2) au moyen de joints sphériques. De façon avantageuse, une articulation sphérique (16) est monté sur chaque griffe (5, 6), à l'intérieur d'un corps principal (20) auquel est associé ou avec lequel coopère un dispositif de serrage à vis des os (25, 26, 21, 22, 23). De plus, des éléments ancillaires (30) sont adaptés pour s'associer de façon amovible à l'extrémité de chaque griffe (5, 6) de sorte que chaque griffe soit plus appropriée en utilisation, en fonction des différentes conditions d'installation du fixateur.
