PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: L'invention concerne un catalyseur, utilisable pour la conversion de l'éthylène en butène-1,caractérisé en ce qu'il résulte de l'interaction d'un mélange préformé de titanate d'alkyle et d'éther dans un rapport molaire éther/titanate de 0,5 : 1 à 10 : 1 avec un composé d'aluminium de formule AlR3 ou AlR2H dans laquelle chacun des restes R est un radical hydrocarbyle. L'invention concerne également un procédé amélioré de conversion de l'éthylène en butène-1, dans lequel on met l'éthylène en contact avec un catalyseur selon l'invention.
