A bed coil spring unit (10) comprising a plurality of joined and interconnected spring cell units (11) and a method of manufacturing the same. Each spring cell unit (11) comprises a plurality of coil springs (21) within long legs (14) which long legs (14) are used to form the coil springs (21). Each spring cell unit (11) has a generally vertical axis (40). The coil springs (21) which make up each spring cell unit (11) are positioned symmetrically about the central axis (40). The plurality of coil springs (21) in each spring cell unit (11) conveniently number four (4).
