A uniaxially heat-shrinkable, biaxially oriented, multilayer film having a polypropylene-containing core layer comprising at least 70 wt.% of said multilayer film and optionally, at least one polyolefin-containing skin layer adjacent said core layer, is prepared by biaxially orienting a coextrudate and thereafter orienting said coextrudate by stretching 10 to 40 % in the machine direction. The core layer contains isotactic polypropylene and a sufficient amount of syndiotactic polypropylene to inhibit uniaxial heat shrinkage at temperatures below 50 ~C. The skin layer can be selected from the group consisting of polypropylene, ethylene-propylene copolymer, polyethylene, and ethylene-propylene-butylene terpolymer.

L'invention concerne une pellicule multicouche orientée biaxialement et thermorétractable uniaxialement, qui comprend une couche centrale à base de polypropylène contenant au moins 70 % en poids de ladite pellicule multicouche et, éventuellement, au moins une couche superficielle à base de polyoléfine adjacente à ladite couche centrale. On prépare cette pellicule en réalisant une orientation biaxiale d'un mélange extrudé, puis en étirant le mélange extrudé à 10 à 40 % dans la direction de fabrication. La couche centrale contient du polypropylène isotactique et une quantité de polypropylène syndiotactique suffisante pour inhiber une thermorétraction uniaxiale à des températures inférieures à 50 ·C. La couche superficielle peut être sélectionnée dans le groupe constitué par polypropylène, copolymère d'éthylène-propylène, polyéthylène, et terpolymère d'éthylène-propylène-butylène.
