A contact tip, suitable for electric arc welding using a consumable electrode, has a body which defines a bore through which the electrode is able to pass to enable electric current from a welding power supply to be transferred from the body to the electrode. In part of the length of the bore between an inlet end and an outlet end, the body has at least one region a primary contact region at which the body is adapted to enable primary electrical contact with the electrode. Along a remainder of the length of the bore, the body is adapted such that any secondary contact between the body and the electrode along the remainder part does not substantially short circuit the primary electrical contact in the primary contact region of the bore.

Selon l'invention, une pointe de contact adaptée au soudage à l'arc au moyen d'une électrode fusible, comporte un corps définissant un alésage au travers duquel l'électrode peut passer de manière à permettre le passage du courant électrique provenant d'une alimentation de courant de soudage, du corps vers l'électrode. Sur une partie de l'alésage, entre une extrémité d'entrée et une extrémité de sortie, le corps comporte au moins une zone de contact primaire sur laquelle un contact électrique primaire est possible entre le corps et l'électrode. Sur la partie restante de l'alésage, le corps est conçu de manière que tout contact secondaire entre le corps et l'électrode sur ladite partie restante ne court-circuite pas le contact électrique primaire dans la zone de contact primaire de l'alésage.
