A method for transmitting data from a sending device on a network to a receiving device on the network comprising the steps of creating a first data block and a second data block on the sending device, storing at least some data for transmission in the first data block and at least some data for transmission in the second data block, transmitting by way of the network the first data block from the sending device to the receiving device, transmitting by way of the network the second data block from the sending device to the receiving device, wherein, the transmission of the second data block commences prior to the receipt by the sending device of any confirmation from the receiving device of receipt of the first data block.
