A device for blowing a gas into a molten metal contained in a reactor or ladle as used in the steel industry includes a refractory material body and mainpassages passing through the refractory body from its lower face to be connectedto a gas supply to its upper face to be in contact with the bath of metal and a metal casing around the body except for the upper face. The device further includes atleast one blind auxiliary passage the upper end of which is at a lower level than the upper surface of the body and the lower end of which opens onto the lower face.
