A disc brake for automobiles and trucks having a large area for annular contact wherein the vehicle has a wheel with a hub journaled to an axle, the disc brake including a housing mounted to the axle and a disc rotor mounted to the hub of the wheel. The disc rotor is ventilated and has opposed annular friction surfaces. The housing includes a first annular wall with brake linings adapted to engage one of the friction surfaces of the disc rotor. An air operated bellows moves the brake shoe axially towards the rotor.

Dans ce concept de frein à disque, le véhicule comporte une roue dont le moyeu est monté directement sur l'essieu, et le frein à disque dispose d'un logement monté sur l'axe et d'un rotor à disque monté sur le moyeu de la roue. Le rotor à disque est ajouré et offre des surfaces de friction annulaires opposées. Le logement présente une première paroi annulaire équipée de garnitures de frein conçues pour entrer en contact avec l'une des surfaces de friction du rotor à disque. Un soufflet pneumatique déplace la semelle de frein vers le rotor suivant une direction axiale.
