Disclosed is an electrochemical sensor for the determina- tion of analytes in body fluids, e.g. glucose in blood. The sensor involves a non-conductive base which provides a flow path for the body fluid with the base having a working and counter electrode on its surface which are in electrical com- munication with a detector of current. The base and a cover therefore provide a capillary space containing the electrodes into which the body fluid is drawn by capillary action. The counter electrode has a sub-element which contains an electro- active material and is configured in the system (sensor and meter) to provide an error signal when insufficient body fluid is drawn into the capillary.
La présente invention concerne un capteur électrochimique pour la détermination d'analytes dans des liquides organiques, par exemple le glucose dans le sang. Le capteur consiste en une base non conductrice qui offre une voie de passage pour le liquide organique, la base comportant sur sa surface une électrode de travail et une électrode auxiliaire, qui sont en contact électrique avec un détecteur de courant. La base et un capuchon offrent donc un espace capillaire contenant les électrodes dans lesquelles le liquide organique est aspiré par la capillarité. L'électrode auxiliaire comporte un sous-élément qui contient un matériau électroactif et est configuré dans le système (le capteur et le mesureur) afin de générer un signal d'erreur lorsqu'une quantité insuffisante de liquide organique est aspirée dans le tube capillaire.
