A plastic end fitting for use on a integrally formed liquid tight connection or "whip" assembly for electrically interconnecting electrical appliances, such as air conditioning units, hot tubs, swimming pools and outdoor lighting fixtures, to one another and/or to a power source junction box or control box. The connection assembly includes a flexible tubular conduit having first and second end portions and an outer surface with a plurality of surface irregularities. The end fitting comprises a hollow generally cylindrical sidewall having generally smooth interior and exterior surfaces and first and second ends. The sidewall has a connection portion adjacent the first end for facilitating the mechanical attachment of the end fitting to an electrical enclosure. The sidewall further includes a conduit receiving portion adjacent the second end for receiving an end portion of the flexible conduit. The diameter of the interior surface of the connection portion is substantially equal to the diameter of the inner surface of the flexible conduit so as to form a continuous generally smooth inner surface through the end fitting and the flexible conduit when the flexible conduit is received in the conduit receiving portion. An annular shoulder is located between the connection and conduit receiving portions. An annular seal ring extending in a generally radial outward direction from the sidewall and in a slightly axial direction toward the connection portion provides a liquid tight seal between the end fitting and an electrical enclosure.
Cette invention concerne un raccord en plastique pour câble d'interconnexion et de branchement étanches d'appareils électriques tels que conditionneurs d'air et appareils d'éclairage de piscines, cuves thermales et aires extérieures. Le câble d'interconnexion ou de branchement comprend un conduit tubulaire flexible ayant une première et une seconde extrémités et une surface extérieure présentant une série de singularités. Le raccord objet de l'invention présente une paroi généralement cylindrique, lisse à l'intérieur comme à l'extérieur. Cette paroi comporte près de sa première extrémité une partie conçue pour faciliter son montage mécanique sur l'enveloppe d'un appareil électrique. Elle comporte à son autre extrémité une partie adaptée pour recevoir un conduit flexible. Le diamètre intérieur de la partie conçue pour le montage mécanique est sensiblement égal au diamètre intérieur du conduit flexible pour donner une surface intérieure généralement lisse et continue lorsque le conduit flexible est inséré dans le raccord. Un épaulement annulaire est prévu entre les deux extrémité du raccord. Une bague d'étanchéité faisant saillie vers l'extérieur de façon généralement radiale et légèrement en direction de l'extrémité de montage mécanique du raccord permet de réaliser un joint étanche aux liquides au point de fixation sur l'appareil électrique.
