A composite toroid forming cup (63) for an automated toroid-forming apparatus has a molded plastic upper closure (64a, 64b) and a bottom reinforced cup section (74). The upper closure has a hinge pin (66a, 66b) and an upper non- stick partial toroid forming surface (79a, 79b). The bottom reinforced cup section (74) has a substantially rigid reinforcing subframe (82) and a plastic outer body portion (76) that may be molded about the subframe (82). The bottom reinforced cup section (74) has a bottom non-stick, partial toroid-forming surface (78). A method of making a composite dough toroid forming cup has several steps. A flat reinforcing plate (120) is perforated with a plurality of apertures (122), and studs (128a, 128b) are spot-welded in a spaced relation onto the reinforcing plate. The reinforcing plate (120) is positioned on a forming die (160) and is formed thereon. The formed reinforcing plate (140) is positioned in a mold (182), and plastic is molded about the formed reinforcing plate (140) to form a reinforced bottom cup section (226). Plastic closures (218a, 218b) are formed in a closure mold (192), and are hingedly mounted on the reinforced buttom cup section (226) to make a full dough forming cup (252). A shape-retaining core (240, 241) is provided within the cup which is maintained tightly fitted about the core by cup holder assembly (238). The cup is immersed in chilled water for cooling pressure.

Une plaque de renforcement plate (120) est perforée d'une multitude de trous (122), et des goujons (1281, 128b) sont soudés par points de manière espacée sue la plaque de renforcement. Cette plaque de renforcement (120) est positionnée dans un moule (182), et le plastique est moulé autour de la plaque de renforcement obtenue (140) afin de former une section inférieure renforcée (226) du godet. Des fermetures en plastique (218a, 218b) sont formées dans un moule (192), et sont montées de manière articulée sur la section inférieure renforcée (226) du godet afin d'obtenir un godet complet (252). Un noyau de conservation de forme (240, 241) est placé dans le godet qui est maintenu étroitement serré contre le noyau par un ensemble de retenue (238). Le godet est immergé dans l'eau glacée pour y être refroidi.
