An improved garage door opener is disclosed. The garage door opener has a housing and a rail. The rail has a first end and a second end, said first end being adapted to be connected to a wall of a structure and the second end being adapted to be connected to the housing. The housing has motor for driving a belt that is connected to a trolley riding along said rail. The trolley is adapted to move the door in response to the motion of the belt. The housing has a sensing means for sensing whether said belt is moving when said motor is operating. The sensor causes the motor to cease if there is no belt motion when the motor is operating.

La présente invention concerne un modèle perfectionné d'ouvre-porte de garage. Cet ouvre-porte de garage comporte un carter et un rail. Le rail a une première et une seconde extrémité, la première extrémité étant conçue pour être reliée à la paroi d'une structure, la seconde, au carter. Le carter dispose d'un moteur entraînant une courroie reliée à un chariot circulant le long du rail. Ce chariot est conçu pour mouvoir la porte en réaction du déplacement de la courroie. Le carter dispose d'un organe de détection servant à détecter su ladite courroie est en mouvement lorsque ledit moteur est en fonctionnement. Le détecteur amène le moteur à cesser de fonctionner s'il n'y a pas de mouvement de la courroie lorsque le moteur est en fonctionnement.
