Disclosed are improved soft, high refractive index, acrylic materials having an elongation of at least 150 %. These materials, especially useful as intraocular lens materials, contain two principal monomers: an aryl acrylic hydrophobic monomer and a hydrophilic monomer.

L'invention concerne des matériaux acryliques améliorés souples, ayant un indice de réfraction élevé et un allongement à la rupture d'au moins 150 %. Ces matériaux sont particulièrement utiles pour réaliser des lentilles intra-oculaires et contiennent deux monomères principaux: un monomère aryle acrylique hydrophobe et un monomère hydrophile.
