This invention relates to hydraulic suspension systems and in particular to vehicle oleopneumatic suspension systems employing sliding pillar struts. There is provided a suspension system (15) for a vehicle comprising a plurality of suspension struts (20), each mounted between a vehicle body (10) and a wheel assembly, each comprising: a cylinder (21) having a closed end and an inner bore (22); a piston rod (25) slideable within the inner bore (22) having a proximal end which terminates within the inner bore (22) and a distal end which extends from the inner bore (22). Between the inner bore (22) and the piston rod (25) there is mounted an oil seal (34) which seals a strut volume (59). A hydrostatic bearing (30) is mounted within and vents into the strut volume (59). A hydraulic circuit and associated control system is adapted to control flow of hydraulic fluid between the strut volume (59) and a reservoir (72), thereby providing control of at least the time-averaged axial position of the piston rod (25) relative to its corresponding inner bore (22).

L'invention se situe dans le domaine des systèmes de suspension hydrauliques, notamment des systèmes de suspension oléopneumatiques de véhicule comportant des bras coulissants en forme de montants. Elle concerne en particulier un système de suspension (15) destiné à un véhicule, qui comprend une pluralité de bras de suspension (20) montés entre la carrosserie (10) du véhicule et un ensemble roue. Chaque bras comprend un cylindre (21) qui présente une extrémité fermée et un alésage interne (22); et une tige (25) de piston pouvant coulisser à l'intérieur de l'alésage (22), qui présente une extrémité proximale se terminant à l'intérieur de l'alésage (22) et une extrémité distale partant dudit alésage (22). Entre l'alésage interne (22) et la tige (25) de piston est monté un joint (34) étanche à l'huile, qui ferme un volume (59) de bras. Un palier hydrostatique (30), monté dans ledit volume (59), en assure l'aération. Un circuit hydraulique et le système de commande associé régulent le débit du fluide hydraulique entre le volume (59) de bras et un réservoir (72), de façon à réguler au moins la position axiale moyenne dans le temps de la tige (25) de piston par rapport à l'alésage interne (22) correspondant.
