A contour or profile of a bore of a locomotive traction-motor support bearing structure, where such profile preserves the currently center-loading of the upper load zone but moves inboardly the lower load zone to a more general central location. The profile of the bore for the support bearing, according to the invention, takes into account not only truck-axle bending due to locomotive weight, but also that from motor tilt through bearing clearances, and couple action on the axle from heavy radial loads on PE support bearing and adjacent axle gear. The bore is configured such that the upper surface is horizontal, but the lower surface slopes downwardly in the outboard direction at an angle based on a function dependent upon the three misalignment factors. In a preferred embodiment, the bore mid-section is defined as a frustroconical section of a cone with an altitude having a slope of substantially 1 X M1 to the horizontal, and an apex angle of substantially arctan 2 X M1, where M1 is the value of the misalignment factor associated with the locomotive load on the axle.

L'invention concerne un contour ou un profil d'un alésage d'un palier-support de moteur de traction de locomotive. Ce profil préserve le chargement actuellement médian de la zone de charge supérieure mais déplace la zone de charge inférieure vers l'intérieur, jusqu'à un emplacement central plus général. Le profil de l'alésage du palier-support de l'invention, prend en compte, non seulement la courbure de l'essieu porteur, en raison du poids de la locomotive, mais également la courbure de l'inclinaison du moteur par des jeux de palier, et couple l'action sur l'axe, à partir de charges radiales lourdes sur le palier-support PE et sur l'engrenage d'essieu adjacent. L'alésage est conçu pour que sa surface supérieure soit horizontale, mais que sa surface inférieure s'incline vers le bas, dans une direction tournée vers l'extérieur, pour former un angle selon une fonction dépendant des trois facteurs de désalignement. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré de l'invention, la partie médiane de l'alésage est définie en tant que partie tronconique d'un cône, avec une altitude présentant une inclinaison de sensiblement 1XM1 par rapport à l'horizontale, et un angle d'apex de sensiblement arctan 2XM1, M1 désignant la valeur du facteur de désalignement associé à la charge de locomotive sur l'axe.
