An iontophoretic drug delivery system (10) having a flexible planar patch (12) including a medicament containing surface (26), and a controller (14) having circuits which supply electric current to effect drug delivery. The patch (12) is detachably coupled to the controller (14) and includes a plurality of spaced-apart electrical contacts. The controller includes an elastomeric connector which is made of alternating sections of electrically conductive and electrically non- conductive material which, during transcutaneous drug delivery, electrically coupled patch to the controller. The connection is maintained free of contaminants which could adversely affect the electrical connection by employing an abrasive wiping surface (60) to clean the electrical interconnection.
L'invention concerne un système (10) pour l'administration d'un médicament par ionophorèse ayant un autocollant (12) plat et flexible, avec une surface (26) renfermant un médicament et un dispositif de commande (14) ayant des circuits qui fournissent du courant électrique pour assurer l'administration du médicament. L'autocollant (12) est couplé d'une manière amovible au dispositif de commande (14) et il comporte une pluralité de contacts électriques espacés. Le dispositif de commande comprend un connecteur en élastomère, qui est fait avec des sections alternées d'un matériau non conducteur d'électricité et d'un matériau conducteur d'électricité, permettant de connecter électriquement l'autocollant au dispositif de commande, durant l'administration transcutanée du médicament.
