The invention is directed to a process for reducing or reductively cleaving an organic compound susceptible to dissolving metal reduction comprising exposing the organic compound to a solution of lithium in a polyamine including at leat two amino groups, selected from the group consisting of primary and secondary amino groups and mixtures thereof, e.g. ethylenediamine and R-NH2, optionally containing a lower alkyl alcohol, wherein R is chosen from the group consisting of ethyl, propyl, and butyl, including all straight and branched chain isomers thereof, for a time sufficient to effect reduction.
Procédé permettant de réduire ou de cliver un composé organique sensible à la réduction par métaux dissous, qui consiste à mettre en contact ledit composé organique avec une solution de lithium dans une polyamine comportant au moins deux groupes amino, choisis dans le groupe constitué de groupes amino primaires et secondaires et de mélange desdits groupes, par ex. éthylènediamine et R-NH¿2?, et comportant éventuellement un alkyl-alcool inférieur, R étant choisi dans le groupe constitué par éthyle, propyle et butyle, y compris tous les isomères linéaires et ramifiés desdites substances, pendant un laps de temps suffisant pour réaliser la réduction.
