An improved masking film provides an adequate level of protection to relatively smooth surfaces by providing an adjustable and controlled level of adhesion between the masking film and the surface to be protected without the use of corona treatment or an adhesive under a variety of production and application conditions. The use of various copolymers, comonomers, and blends and percentages thereof, allows for control of the adhesion level produced between the improved masking film and the substrate surface to be protected. Using the improved masking film of the present invention, the masking film can be customized for a set of production conditions and desire application and will remain removably adhered to the substrate following a heat loading process such as thermoforming, drape-forming or heat-bending.

L'invention concerne un masque amélioré assurant un niveau convenable de protection des surfaces relativement lisses dans la mesure où la force d'adhérence du masque à la surface à protéger est réglée et maîtrisée et ce, sans avoir recours à un traitement par décharge corona ou à un adhésif dans de nombreuses conditions de production et d'application. L'utilisation de plusieurs copolymères, comonomères et de leurs mélanges selon différents pourcentages permet de contrôler la force d'adhérence qu'exerce ce masque amélioré sur la surface du substrat à protéger. On peut, en outre, personnaliser le masque en vue de répondre à des conditions de production et à une application souhaitée pour qu'il reste collé, tout en pouvant être détaché, au substrat après un procédé de chargement par voie thermique, notamment un thermoformage, un drapage ou un cintrage à chaud.
