The present invention relates to a new method and apparatus for manufacturing a work surface. The work surface involved includes a substrate and at least one attachment element, the work surface being characterised in that the substrate includes a recess into which the attachment element is fitted, a portion of the attachment element protrudes past the substrate when in plate in the recess.
