The invention relates to a method for the catalytic hydrogenation of adipodinitrile to hexamethylene diamine at a high temperature and at high pressure in the presence of catalysts based on elementary iron as the catalytic component, and ammonia as a solvent. The method is characterised in that a) adipodinitrile is hydrogenated at temperatures of 70 to 220 °C and at pressures of 100 to 400 bar in the presence of catalysts based on elementary iron as the catalytic component, and ammonia as a solvent to produce a mixture containing adipodinitrile, 6-aminocapronitrile, hexamethylene diamine and high boilers, until the sum of the 6-aminocapronitrile and adipodinitrile concentration is 1 to 50 wt. 3% in relation to the ammonia-free hydrogenation mixture; b) ammonia is separated out of the hydrogenation discharge; c) hexamethylene diamine is separated out of the remaining mixture; d) 6- aminocapronitrile and adipodinitrile are separated from the high boilers together or separately and e) 6-aminocapronitrile, adipodinitrile or their mixtures are returned to step a).

L'invention concerne un procédé d'hydrogénation catalytique d'adipodinitrile pour former de l'hexaméthylène-diamine à une température et une pression élevées en présence de catalyseurs contenant du fer élémentaire comme composant à effet catalytique, et d'ammoniac comme solvant. Ce procédé est caractérisé en ce que a) on réalise l'hydrogénation de l'adipodinitrile à des températures comprises entre 70 et 220 DEG C et à des pressions comprises entre 100 et 400 bars en présence de catalyseurs contenant du fer élémentaire comme composant à effet catalytique, et d'ammoniac comme solvant, pour former un mélange contenant de l'adipodinitrile, du 6-aminocapronitrile, de l'hexaméthylène-diamine et des composés à haut point d'ébullition, jusqu'à ce que le somme de la concentration de 6-aminocapronitrile et d'adipodinitrile atteigne 1 à 50 % en poids par rapport au mélange d'hydrogénation exempt d'ammoniac; b) on sépare l'ammoniac du produit d'hydrogénation; c) on sépare l'hexaméthylène-diamine du mélange résiduel; d) on sépare individuellement ou de façon commune le 6-aminocapronitrile et l'adipodinitrile des composés à haut point d'ébullition et e) on réintroduit à l'étape a) le 6-aminocapronitrile, l'adipodinitrile ou leur mélange.
