Liquid crystalline polymers that are made from 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, 2,6- naphthalenedicarboxylic acid, terephthalic acid, hydroquinone, and N-acetyl-4- aminophenol by heating the monomers in the presence of acetic anhydride are more easily synthesized in high molecular weight if isophthalic acid is also included as a monomer at a level of about 0.5 mole % to about 10 mole %.

Les polymères à cristaux liquides que l'on fabrique à partir de l'acide 4-hydroxybenzoïque, de l'acide 2,6-naphtalène-dicarboxylique, de l'acide téréphtalique, de l'hydroquinone et de l'acétyl-4-aminophénol, en chauffant les monomères en présence d'anhydride acétique, sont plus faciles à synthétiser avec un poids moléculaire élevé si on ajoute de l'acide isophtalique sous forme de monomère à un taux compris entre 0,5 et 10 % de moles environ.
