A method and apparatus for installing a pile or load-bearing element into soft ground, wherein a non-percussive force, rather than a percussive force such as that applied by a hammer or a jack, is applied to the top of a hole-forming tool or pile (1) so as to push the hole-forming tool or pile (1) in a substantially continuous motion to a first depth into the ground, and wherein the hole-forming tool or pile (1) is then pushed in a non-percussive manner to a second depth while being simultaneously rotated. There is also disclosed a method and apparatus for forming a cast-in-situ pile in soft ground by pushing a hole-forming tool (1) provided with fins (3) at its base into the ground. Once the required level has been reached, the hole-forming tool (1) is rotated and concrete or grout is pumped through the body of the hole-forming tool so as concomitantly to help displace and replace the soil swept away by the fins (3). The hole-forming tool (1) is then withdrawn, and further concrete or grout is supplied so as to form a predictably-shaped pile with enhanced bearing capacity.

L'invention porte sur un procédé d'installation d'un pieu ou d'un élément support de charge dans un sol meuble. On applique pour cela une force sans percussion plutôt qu'une force par percussion telle que celle appliquée par un marteau ou un vérin sur la tête d'un outil de formation de trou ou pieu (1) de façon à enfoncer cet outil ou pieu (1) selon un mouvement pratiquement continu dans une première profondeur du sol. L'outil de formation de trou ou pieu? ¿(1) est alors enfoncé sans percussion dans une seconde profondeur de sol tout en subissant simultanément une rotation. L'invention porte également sur un procédé et un appareil de formation d'un pieu coulé in-situ dans un sol meuble, ce procédé consistant à enfoncer dans le sol un outil (1) de formation de trou pourvu à sa base d'ailettes (3). Après avoir atteint le niveau requis, on fait tourner l'outil (1) et on pompe le béton ou le coulis dans le corps de l'outil de façon à faciliter, de manière concomitante, le retrait et le replacement de la terre éliminée des ailettes (3). On retire ensuite l'outil (1), et on amène le béton ou le coulis de façon à former un pieu d'une forme prévue et ayant une plus grande résistance à la charge.
