This invention is a method, and apparatus for the treatment of a particular volume of material (128), plant or animal tissue, including the steps of treating the material (128), plant or animal tissue with at least one photoactive agent, wherein the particular volume of the material (128), plant or animal tissue retains at least a portion of the at least one photoactive agent; and then treating the particular volume of the material (128), plant or animal tissue with light (122) sufficient to promote a multi-photon excitation of at least one of the at least one photoactive agent retained in the particular volume of the material (128), plant or animal tissue, wherein the at least one photoactive agent becomes active in the particular volume of the material (128), plant or animal tissue.
Cette invention a trait à un appareil et à la technique afférente permettant de traiter un volume donné d'une substance (128), ou d'un tissu végétal ou animal, au moyen d'au moins un agent photosensible, ce volume donné (128) retenant au moins une partie de l'agent photosensible ou des agents photosensibles. Ce volume donné d'une substance (128), ou d'un tissu végétal ou animal, est ensuite soumis aux effets d'une lumière (122), suffisante pour provoquer une excitation multiphotonique d'au moins l'un des agents photosensibles renfermés par la substance (128) ou le tissu végétal ou animal, cet agent photosensible devenant, de ce fait, actif dans ledit volume susmentionné (128).
