This invention is methods and devices for the treatment of airway obstruction, sleep apnea and snoring, by tongue suspension for treatment of airway obstruction in a human subject, including the steps of inserting a bone anchor (20) into the mandible (72) of the subject, and fastening at least one suture (32) to the bone anchor (20) to suspend the tongue to the mandible (72). Preferably, the bone anchors used are surgical screws (20). The sutures (32) are fastened to at least one surgical screw (20), and are preferably inserted in positions adjacent to the mandible's midline. Alternatively, suspension of the hyoid bone is accomplished.
L'invention concerne des méthodes et dispositifs pour traiter l'obstruction des voies aériennes, l'apnée du sommeil et le ronflement chez un sujet humain, par suspension de la langue. Ces procédés consistent à insérer un élément d'ancrage pour os (20) dans la mandibule (72) du sujet, et à fixer au moins un fil de suture (32) à l'élément d'ancrage (20) pour suspendre la langue à la mandibule (72). De préférence, les éléments d'ancrage utilisés sont des vis chirurgicales (20). Les fils de suture (32) sont fixés à au moins une vis chirurgicale (20), et de préférence introduits dans des positions adjacentes à la ligne médiane de la mandibule. En variante, la langue est suspendue à l'hyoïde.
