Methods for providing an image of an internal region of a patient. Embodiments of the methods involve administering to the patient a contrast agent which comprises a vesicle composition comprising, in an aqueous carrier, a gas or gaseous precursor and vesicles comprising lipids, proteins or polymers. The patient is scanned using diagnostic imaging, such as ultrasound, to obtain a visible image of the region. The contrast agent is administered to the patient at a rate to substantially eliminate diagnostic artifacts in the image. The methods are particularly useful for diagnosing the presence of any diseased tissue in the patient.
L'invention concerne des procédés d'obtention d'une image d'une région interne d'un patient. Les modes de réalisation des procédés consistent en l'administration au patient d'un agent de contraste comprenant une composition de vésicule contenant, dans un excipient aqueux, un gaz ou un précurseur gazeux et des vésicules contenant des lipides, des protéines ou des polymères. Le patient est soumis à un balayage utilisant une imagerie diagnostique, telle qu'une échographie, afin d'obtenir une image visible de la région. On administre l'agent de contraste au patient à une vitesse donnée afin d'éliminer sensiblement les artefacts diagnostiques dans l'imagerie. Les procédés sont particulièrement utiles dans le diagnostic d'éventuels tissus malades chez le patient.
