This apparatus and method relates to the improved sensing of fluid differential pressures. The apparatus and method can be applied in multi- capillary solution viscometers and gel permeation chromatography systems used in the characterization of polymers. A valve is used to alter a flow path in a measurement circuit to reduce or eliminate an undesired fluid output and to accelerate the regeneration of the fluid for analysis of subsequent samples. The apparatus and method can be usefully applied to all instruments and systems comprising viscometers having two or more capillaries.

L'invention porte sur un appareil et un procédé qui permettent une détection améliorée des pressions différentielles d'un fluide. L'appareil et le procédé de l'invention peuvent être appliqués à des viscosimètres pour solutions multicapillaires et à des systèmes de chromatographie par perméation de gel utilisés pour la caractérisation des polymères. Une soupape permet de modifier une trajectoire d'écoulement dans un circuit de mesure afin de réduire ou éliminer une sortie de fluide non désirée et d'accélérer la régénération du fluide pour l'analyse d'échantillons suivants. L'appareil et le procédé de l'invention peuvent être utiles dans tous les instruments et systèmes comprenant des viscosimètres comportant au moins deux capillaires.
