A colored composition which includes a mutable colorant, an ultraviolet radiation transorber, and a molecular includant, wherein more than two molecules of the ultraviolet radiation transorber are covalently coupled to each molecule of the molecular includant. The combination of ultraviolet radiation transorber and molecular includant is denominated a functionalized molecular includant. The covalent coupling of the ultraviolet radiation transorber may be accomplished by a method which includes the steps of providing a derivatized ultraviolet radiation transorber having a nucleophilic group, providing a derivatized molecular includant having more than two leaving groups per molecule, and reacting the derivatized ultraviolet radiation transorber with the derivatized molecular includant under conditions sufficient to result in the covalent coupling of an average of more than two ultaviolet radiation transorber molecules to each molecular includant molecule. Particularly suitable nucleophilic and leaving groups are mercapto and <u>p</u>-toluenesulfonyl (tosyl), respectively.

La combinaison de l'agent d'absorption du rayonnement ultraviolet et du constituant moléculaire est dénommée constituant moléculaire fonctionnalisé. Le couplage covalent de l'agent d'absorption du rayonnement ultraviolet peut s'effectuer au moyen d'un procédé consistant, à partir d'un agent dérivatisé d'absorption du rayonnement ultraviolet possédant un groupe nucléophile et d'un constituant moléculaire dérivatisé possédant plus de deux nucléofuges par molécule, à effectuer la réaction de ces derniers dans des conditions permettant de réaliser le couplage covalent de plus de deux molécules en moyenne de l'agent d'absorption du rayonnement ultraviolet avec chaque molécule du constituant moléculaire. Les groupes nucléophiles et les nucléofuges particulièrement appropriés sont respectivement mercapto et <u>p</u>-toluènesulfonyle (tosyle).
