A nitrile polymer vulcanizate having a hot air aging time to reach 100% elongation at break of at least about 1000 hours when measured pursuant to ASTM-D865-81 at 150°C. The nitrite polymer vulcanizate may be produced admixing a polymer composition comprising: (i) a nitrite polymer; (ii) a filler; (iii) an additive selected from the group comprising: a salt of strong base and a weak acid, polycarbodiimide and mixtures thereof; and (iv) a vulcanization system. The nitrite polymer vulcanizate has improved hot air aging characteristics.
