Paint formulations that exhibit improved performance characteristics due to the presence of a combination of a cellulose ether (carboxymethyicellulose and/or hydroxy ethylcellulose) and a network building polymer (gellan gum, carrageenan, etc.. as examples) as a thickening system therein are provided. The combination of the cellulose ether and a network building pol\ mer allows for a lower viscosity cellulosic compound fo impart the desired.theological behavior therein while also permitting the other desirable characteristics noted above. L'invention concerne des formulations de peinture qui présentent des caractéristiques d'efficacité améliorées grâce à la présence d'une combinaison d'éther de cellulose (carboxyméthylcellulose et/ou hydroxyéthylcellulose) et d'un polymère réticulant (entre autres gomme gellane, carraghénane, par exemple) comme système épaississant. Cette combinaison confère à la formulation de peinture une stabilité de conservation à long terme ainsi que des caractéristiques d'étalement efficace, et confère d'autres propriétés importantes à la formulation finale de peinture. La combinaison de l'éther de cellulose et d'un polymère réticulant permet à un composé cellulosique de faible viscosité de conférer le comportement rhéologique voulu, et permet aussi d'obtenir les autres caractéristiques mentionnées voulues. Ces compositions de peinture possèdent également des propriétés d'atomisation améliorées pour des applications par pulvérisation utilisant un tel système épaississant.
