A wiring fitting (10) of the type adapted to be supported in a floor opening in a floor of a building structure. The fitting (10) includes at least one intumescent fire retarding member (50) formed from a polymeric based intumescent material. Employing a polymeric intumescent material allows the intumescent members to be formed by molding or extruding processes. A relatively rigid intumescent material may be used to form components including a tubular insert (12) sized for insertion into the floor opening (B), as well as other components that could otherwise be formed from plastic, such as the cover plate (4), the receptacle barrier (20), and the trim flange (3). A relatively flexible polymeric based intumescent material can be used to form seals in the fitting.

L'invention concerne un raccord de câblage (10) du type adapté pour être mis en place et supporté dans une ouverture pratiquée dans un plancher d'une structure d'un immeuble. Le raccord (10) comprend au moins un élément ignifuge intumescent (50), constitué par un matériau intumescent à base de polymères. L'emploi d'un matériau intumescent polymère permet de former les éléments intumescents par moulage ou par extrusion. Un matériau intumescent relativement rigide peut être utilisé pour former des composants comprenant une pièce rapportée tubulaire (12), dimensionnée en vue de son insertion dans l'ouverture du plancher (B), ainsi que d'autres composants qui peuvent être formés suivant d'autres méthodes, à partir de matières plastiques, par exemple, plaque de recouvrement (4), protège-réceptacle (20) et bride de garniture (3). Un matériau intumescent polymère relativement souple peut être utilisé pour former des joints dans ledit raccord.
