Disclosed is a process for making soft tissue paper which includes the steps of wet-laying cellulosic fibers to form a web; drying the web and elevating the web temperature, creping the hot web, and applying low levels of a polysiloxane material to the hot, creped web. Preferably, the hot web is dried to a moisture level below its equilibrium moisture content before application of the polysiloxane material. The process may further include the steps of applying an effective amount of a surfactant material to enhance softness and/or wettability control; and/or an effective amount of a binder material such as starch, for linting control, and/or to contribute tensile strength to the tissue paper.

On décrit un procédé de fabrication de papier souple pour mouchoirs jetables et produits analogues, qui consiste à disposer des fibres de cellulose par voie humide de façon à former une bande; à faire sécher la bande et à en augmenter la température, puis à crêper la bande chauffée et à appliquer un matériau à base de polysiloxane à de faibles niveaux sur la bande chauffée et crêpée. De préférence, la bande chauffée est desséchée jusqu'à ce qu'elle atteigne un niveau d'humidité inférieur à son humidité d'équilibre avant que le polysiloxane ne soit appliqué. Le procédé peut en outre consister à appliquer une quantité efficace d'un produit tensioactif permettant d'augmenter la souplesse et/ou la régulation de la mouillabilité; et/ou une quantité suffisante d'un matériau liant tel que l'amidon, permettant de réguler l'aspect pelucheux et/ou d'augmenter la résistance à la traction du papier.
