The present invention concerns a process for clavulanic acid production by aerobic fermentation using selected and/or culture collection strains of Streptomyces clavuligerus, or mutants thereof. Accordingly, the culture is carried out with continuous or semicontinuous feeding of one or more organic nitrogen complex sources, preferably soybean meal, so as to control the protein concentration in the filtered broth within certain limits during the time course of the fermentation. The described conditions led to significant improvements in the clavulanic acid fermentation.

Cette invention concerne un procédé de production d'acide clavulanique par fermentation aérobie dans lequel on utilise des souches de Streptomyces clavuligerus sélectionnées et/ou issues d'une souchothèque ou, encore, des mutants de ces souches. La culture s'effectue en assurant une alimentation continue ou semi-continue en une ou plusieurs souches de complexes d'azote organiques, de préférence une alimentation à base de soja, ceci de sorte que la concentration de protéines dans le bouillon filtré puisse être maintenue dans certaines limites au cours de la fermentation. Les conditions susmentionnées permettent d'apporter des améliorations sensibles à la fermentation de l'acide clavulanique.
