A process for producing pure carboxylic acids by catalytic liquid phase air oxidation of a suitable precursor in a solvent in which the oxidation reaction is carried out in a plug flow reaction zone at a high solvent:precursor ratio and reaction conditions sufficient to maintain the pure acid in solution as it is formed, and product produced from such process.

L'invention concerne un procédé amélioré de production d'acides carboxyliques purs par oxydation à l'air en phase liquide catalytique d'un précurseur adéquat dans un solvant dans lequel la réaction d'oxydation est effectuée dans une zone de réaction d'écoulement à bouchons dans un rapport solvant:précurseur élevé et dans des conditions de réaction suffisantes pour maintenir l'acide pur sous forme soluble.
