ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improved process for equilibrating organopolysiloxane polymers is provided herein. The process comprises reacting halosilanes (e.g. chlorosilanes) with organopolysiloxanes in the presence of activated charcoal and also if desired, an in- organic acid. This process avoids cleavage of the SiC-bonded organic groups and/or avoids the formation of decomposition products which have a noxious odor. It does not require the use of cyclotrisiloxanes nor expensive polar solvents. The catalyst need not be separated nor need it be neutralized. There is a reduction in reaction time with increased yields of products.
