A protective grounding jumper cable tester basically includes a housing, a pair of jumper attachment terminals on the housing for attachment of a jumper cable therebetween; a d c voltage applying circuit disposed in the housing and connected to the pair of jumper attachment terminals for applying a direct current through a jumper cable attached between the jumper attachment terminals; and electronic means in the form of a PC board and microprocessor disposed in the housing and interconnected to the dc voltage circuit for applying a predetermined mathematical relationship to measure a resistance value of at least a portion of the jumper cable attached between the jumper attachment terminals. The electronic means in applying the predetermined mathematical relationship to measure the resistance value includes means for taking different voltage readings in accordance with Kelvin's measure procedure and calculating the resistance value from the voltage readings in accordance with Kirchoff's current law.
Equipement amélioré de vérification des cables de connexion de protection par mise à la terre comprenant fondamentalement un boîtier, deux bornes à connexion volante sur le boîtier devant être reliées par un câble de connexion, un circuit appliquant une tension en courant continu placé dans le boîtier et connecté aux deux bornes à connexion volante pour appliquer un courant continu à un câble de connexion reliant les deux bornes à connexion volante, et un dispositif électronique constitué d'une carte à circuit imprimé et d'un microprocesseur placés dans le boîtier et interconnectés au circuit de tension en courant continu pour appliquer un rapport mathématique prédéterminé afin de mesurer une valeur ohmique d'au moins une partie du câble de connexion connecté entre les bornes à connexion volante. Le dispositif électronique, qui applique le rapport mathématique prédéterminé pour mesurer la valeur ohmique, a aussi la capacité d'effectuer diverses lectures de tension selon la méthode de mesure de Kelvin et de calculer la valeur ohmique à partir des lectures de la tension conformément à la première loi de Kirchoff.
